What is our mission? We’re a high-tech medical device manufacturer that helps millions of people fight cancer and other serious medical conditions. Each day, over 100,000 people worldwide are treated on our medical devices. But it doesn’t stop there. We also advance the practical applications of X-ray technology for medical and industrial applications like cargo screening to enhance port and border security.

Varian values the technical skills and discipline that the military experience provides. We hire many military veterans into our field service and customer support positions — people who have technical skills in RF and digital electronic device trouble shooting, mechanical diagnostics, identification and repair of routine software and network problems, and strong documentation and customer service skills.

So, if you are ready to join our team, we encourage you to browse the openings we have and apply directly through our web site (this is the preferred method compared to applying through a third-party recruiter). We also encourage you to watch our corporate video to learn more about Varian and listen to what some patients as well as employees have to say about us.

And…thank you for serving.

"Serving in the Navy as an Electronics Technician, the camaraderie, the pride, the respect, and the experiences are things I will never forget, but after six years I wanted something more. I wanted a career that I could excel base on my ability and drive without restrictions. I found so much more in Varian. I found a company where your happiness, personal tragedy, and you as a person are as important as the bottom line. A place where the work you do has a purpose and meaning. A company that the word co-worker and friend are interchangeable and a position that challenges your mind while providing all the training needed to transition into an exciting career. To find this in a large company, that is the leader in its field, made me realize that a job can be rewarding both professionally and personally. I am proud to say that I install and repair radiation therapy equipment for Varian Medical Systems.

"I retired after 26 years from the Navy on March 31, 2007. I enlisted as a Fire Controlman working with gun and missile systems. I taught the Close-In Weapons Systems and became a Master Training Specialist. Other tours included conducting test and evaluation of point defense weapons systems and finally as a Command Master Chief.

When I decided to retire from the navy and search for a civilian job, my Fire Control experience fit nicely with the job description for Varian. I ended up with an interview and was subsequently hired in March 2007. My job with Varian is as a Customer Service Representative installing/upgrading Clinac linear accelerators. I'm enjoying the heck out of the job because it is something different every day and the travel isn’t hard compared to the Navy. But probably the most important reason is that my mom is a breast cancer survivor and working at Varian gives me the satisfaction of being part of the cancer solution "

"…after retiring from the Air Force I wanted to work for a global company that embraced my military background as a A-10/F-16 Flight Line Mechanic and MH-60G Helicopter Flight Engineer. I could see right away that Varian loves to hire military because of the leadership training we receive coupled with the disciplined environment we work in everyday."

"I went active in the Army in 1993 doing avionics radar repair and was stationed for four years in Hawaii, I deployed to Haiti and had the opportunity to help rebuild an orphanage, then stationed in Ft. Hood TX for two years. That job entailed repairing missile detection systems, night vision goggles, and radar altimeters for the aircraft. I got off Active duty in 1999 and re-joined the Army reserves and performed medical equipment repair and was with the first medial group to invade Iraq. My job there was to help set up hospitals with power and provide support for the hospitals medical equipment, power needs, and deliver medical supplies.

I joined Varian in 2005 and it’s been great! I have had the opportunity to "save the day" on many occasions. When a customer has a patient prepared for an SRS treatment it's a big deal. I have had several situations where I had to get the machine up and running, after I do they are very appreciative and get thanked by the staff and by the patients in the waiting room depending on me. its very rewarding, and satisfying when the training I have received through both the Army and through Varian have paid off and enable me to do what HAS to be done! "

"After 25 years in the Air Force, I was apprehensive about finding a civilian job. During my career I worked in two fields, first as a Missile Systems Analyst and then I moved into meteorological and navigation systems working on ground transmitters used for aircraft guidance. I retired in 2006 and immediately joined Varian as a Field Service Engineer. I now work on cancer treatment systems with the #1 company in the field. While my transition was hectic and full of ups and downs, I could not have ended up in a better position."
