Argus | Installation & Training

Most brand new Argus purchases come bundled with both installation and training. Installation is performed by a qualified Varian software installer, and training is provided by a Varian Applications Specialist.

Most Argus upgrade purchases require only a license change to your Argus data file, and usually do not come with onsite installation. Instead the customer is typically contacted by phone, and a remote license change is performed. If you have not been contacted about your Argus upgrade purchase, or if you have questions, please contact Argus Help Desk at 888.827.4265 in the United States, or 702.938.4807 outside the U.S. Additionally, Argus upgrade purchases do not come with training unless additional training is specifically included in the purchase.

Finally, Argus updates are customer-installed using the installation application on the Argus update CD. Contact Help Desk for assistance with your update installation.

Prior to Installation

Prior to a brand new installation, you must provide Varian with the initial configuration information for your new Argus data file. This submission describes the machines (linacs, simulators, etc.) that will be included in the Argus data file, as well as the equipment interfaces that you wish to use. To begin the submission process, go to the Argus Configuration web page and enter your configuration information in the Adobe Acrobat form. Note that you will need your Sales Order Number ("SO Number") in order to complete the form. You can get this SO Number from your Varian sales representative, your Project Manager or Installer, or from Varian's Help Desk.

It is important to note that your order includes licensing only for a specific number of machines, and in some cases only for a specific number of interfaces. It is important that you enter configuration information only for those machines and interfaces that you have purchased; entering additional information will slow down the processing of your order.

Training

Once your installation is complete, you will be contacted by a Varian Applications Coordinator to schedule your Argus training. Depending on your purchase, you may receive either remote or on-site training. In either case, a training curriculum based on your specific requirements will be determined.
